Practical Day 46: The Last Day

Terasa hendak berbahasa Melayu. Tak pe kan. Jadi dengan ayat stail ‘status FB’, kali ni ingat nak bersantai sikit untuk tulis-tulis pasal praktikal ni. Maklumlah, hari last.

Macam mana nak cakap? Memang hari yang ditunggu-tunggu telah tiba. Tapi, bangun pagi, tak terasa apa pun. Bangun, mentaliti nak pergi kerja, macam biasa.

Naik opis, terus sorokkan dulu. Sebab nak open mase pukul 10 nanti, mase minum. Ingatkan dah lambat, rupanya agak awal jugak aku ni. Dahsat jugak, perangai datang awal ni masih melekat dari hari first sampai hari last. cuma hari first dulu tu awal sangat la. 7.15 pun dah sampai opis. Gila jugak rasanya. Sekarang ni kira lambat banding dengan dulu cuma sekarang dah pandai bajet time.

Aku pun memang nak join. Hari last kot.

Memandangkan aku tengah rushing nak renew road tax, aku pun keluar time-time gini. Time minum tak salah aku boleh keluar. Asalkan jagan lambat sangat. Skil Mengular. Tak pe. Untuk hal-hal penting boleh consider kut. Malangnya, tak dapat nak buat. Bangang jugak Ikobana.com ni. Tak pe lah. Yang lagi bangang sebenarnya Post Office. Problem ape ntah sampai sekarang tak leh nak renew road tax.

Kemudian, macam biasa aku cuba cari lagi bahan sambil Faiz interview aku macam-macam. Aku kena turunkan ilmu sedikit sebanyak supaya dia dapat tahu. Lepas aku blah nanti aku tak sure dia boleh tanya siapa. Aku rasa dia boleh survive. Dia pun tanya macam mana lunch hari ni (Jumaat)? So aku cakap macam biasa. Hari ni dia tak bawak bekal, sebab dia nak try apa yang aku asyik beli kat kedai mamak tu. Mee Goreng Melayu Pedas. Aku pun nak keluar ofis, sekali Mr. Lim cakap kuih bakar tu sedap. Dia tanya beli kat mana. Aku pun jawab ‘Itu mak saya yang buat’. Pergh, kalau aku citer kat mak aku ni, mesti kembang. Pastu mesti lagi rajin nak buat. (Memang betul, mak aku kemudian suruh aku beli telur lagi banyak. Adoy).

Pastu aku dengan faiz pun pergi Solat Jumaat kat Klang Gate. Dekat dengan rumah pak cik aku. Tapi malangnya, hari ni tak jumpa dia pulak.

Aku kemudian balik opis. Abang Syed ajak naik blok A. Aku mula-mula macam keberatan, tapi dia dah nak ajar, aku tak nak menolak. Tau-tau je ni hari last. Lepas puas tengok, Abang Syed ajak turun, check level lain. Aku jalan pergi arah tangga, pastu stop jap. Syahdu. Pusing balik dan join Abang Syed buat check pintu tangga. Kemudian aku mintak izin nak turun. Setengah jam je lagi nak time.

Lantaklah, aku dah nak blah dah pun. Aku pun kuar, farewell semua orang dan cakap terima kasih kat diorang. Aku turun, salam dengan LP. Orang pertama yang aku bercakap kat site ni masa awal-awal masuk dulu.

Alhamdulillah, semua selesai. Tinggal lagi mahu buat report. Terima kasih Kak Mazita, Nurul, Shima, Abang Syed, Mr. Lim, Abang Hafizan, Ting, Mr. Tong, Eddie, Mr. Chong, Abang Amin, Encik Zairul, Cheah, Ah Heng, Ah Liew, Alex, Benny, Ah Teh, Rashpal, Simon, Abang Nizam, Encik Farid dan Faiz si trainee baru. Asslamualaikum.

Allahumma Yassir, Wa La Tu’assir. Rabbi Tammim BilKhair.

Practical Day 45: Gudday

I am a little bit afraid of yesterday task. To find those sanitary wares that already arrived long before I’m here. The thing making this matter worse, LP also does not working here at that time. I assume that I have to check a new file from Kalam, another Bangla. I think he was the store keeper before LP. But I just want to keep busy with my report. I search for files that include information regarding this site. I photocopied method of statement and so many more. Ting didn’t say a word to me. I hope I can get off the hook this time. Later I seek Mr. Tong to get his initial on my logbook. Then I state my intention to make tomorrow as my last day. He seems surprised. I give a reason that my class will start immediately on Monday as I don’t have so much time to prepare. He seems okay even though he did not say yes or no. However, I will decide on that matter. Now, my decision is tomorrow is my last day. InsyaAllah.

Ting overheard us. He suddenly turns around and asked me to arrange everything that I have done before in a file. So he wants me to give to him later. Mr. Ting also adds that I suppose to hand over those items to Shima. Shima did not come today. So I feel a bit down. Okay, fine. I just go out and take some pictures around the site. It took me a while though. It is good as I want to waste my time without doing works from the office. Later about 1 hour before lunch, I return to the office. I wanted to photocopy some other materials. As I read the progress report to pick what I wanted suddenly Ting called me. Then he says that he wanted me to follow him for lunch, to the McDonald. I don’t know what to say. I have to cancel the lunch plan with Faiz.

In the car, with Kak Ita I have learned the truth. Lot of it. She said that (something might be racist)… but the fact is every race is same. The basis is there are good people and bad people. That’s all. Once they know that one Malay differ from Malay stereotype, they will be amazed. So that’s why I’m here right now. Being invited for lunch and will be treated by them like a celebration as an appreciation. I couldn’t ask for more. Alhamdulillah if what she says is true. So I ask for her opinion whether I’m good or not? Then she answer that I’m doing okay. I have to know the fact that I am learning and I am a TRAINEE. I should not mutter on my low-class task. The major point is to give an exposure to me on the working on site. It’s okay Kak Ita. I already accepted that fact few weeks ago when Mr. Yong, my lecturer gives me a visit. It is also strengthen after I met Ir. Shaharin last week.

So, I being treated by Ah Ting and I get a free gift from McD. Six of us, made up from myself, Kak Ita, Rashpal, Ah Ting, Ah Teh and Mr. Tong, my supposed-to-be-supervisor. I never had a chance to go to lunch with them. I think this is to commemorate my ending of practical. After billion sweats falling over, hatred that I have felt, confusedness, lost in the world and so many more knowledge and experience that I have, I should thanks them for what I have now.

Later in the evening, I climb up to the uppermost floor of the block A. I wanted to see the brickworks being done yesterday. Amazingly, there is huge advancement made until today. Alhamdulillah, now I already have some pictures of progress. As I going down from the building, I met Taizil Islam, P1 from the previous post. He is the kongsi kong that I used to get help from. I shake hands with him and mentioned that tomorrow will be my last day. I don’t know whether he can understand me. He just laughs.

Suddenly my phone rang. It is Eddie. I take the call and he asked my whereabouts. I said that I am at level 11 to watch work under progress. So he wanted me to check on sanitary fittings inside the cabin. The cabin is placed on the roadside at the main road. I never have chance to peek in it. Now I have the huge chance to check on items in it. However, the cabin inside is too hot. Too humid as the odor is also bad. I check the items. Later I show it to Eddie even though it is already too late (for me, I want to go home sharp on 5). He took the list and wanted me to photocopy it for him. I just do the order. Later upon receiving the list again, he asked me “Adli, is it tomorrow is your last day”. Then I nodded without a word. Then he looks at other place in despair. I don’t know what the issue for him. As far as I’m concern, I can stop working here. Nothing else disturbing my mind. I hope he can find another trainee to do my job. Lol.

So I return home with smile on my face. I feel like a got an A for Industrial Training already. Well, the result not too important (Yes, it is actually important), but I want to feel this feeling. Feeling of proud and happiness. I hope I can get an A for this subject, Industrial Training.

Allahumma Yassir, Wa La Tu’assir. Rabbi Tammim BilKhair.

Practical Day 44: Conflict

The training is almost end. As I close with the time, I came only on time to the site. Not early as I did in the beginning of the training. Woa, I remember that my van’s road tax already dead today. Hope nothing happen so I can renew it later. InsyaAllah.

Well, this morning I asked Shima and Kak Mazita to join them for breakfast. I never had a breakfast with them. Suddenly Ting came and also wanted to join. Urmph, I cannot do some gossiping for this time anymore. As we having our breakfast, Ting opens up the working discussion. I’m not in the mood to discuss about work with him. I rather to keep quiet besides joining him in the talk. I also don’t want to get too close with him.

Then we return to the office. I keep on with key in the measurement that I did last week and I hope no work coming in. Immediately after I’ve finished the key in work, Abang Syed already put on his helmet. He asked me to join him to the uppermost floor at the block A. He wanted to teach me about setting out and brick work. I couldn’t resist. As fast as I can, I catch my safety helmet and I followed him.

Here we are, at the uppermost level of the building. I wait a while as Syed solving some issue. Later he teaches me about setting out the brickwork. This is to ensure the accuracy of the bricks placement inside the unit is correct. Later he explains about ‘Exmat’. This is a type of mat that used to strengthen the bonding between brick layer. The setting out is using the ‘Grid Line’ made by surveyor. The grid line became the reference to drag the displacement of the setting out. After the setting out finished, then only the brickwork can be started. If not, later it might invite so many problems later on like plastering, water proofing, floor rendering, tiling and so many more. Sometime later, we continue to make some inspection on the brickwork done. We measured the distance between two points involving brickworks. If it’s ok, then it is fine. If not, Syed will order them to do some rework to correct the mistakes happened. Okay, we finished for the first part of the day.

Lunch, I go to D’ Mamak with Faiz, the new trainee. I couldn’t resist with its Mee Goreng Melayu Pedas version. I enjoyed it as I don’t know where and when I can get it again after I finish this training. Not much we can talk about. He interested to know about studying degree in Civil Engineering. I just explain to him what I know.

Then we continue our works for the second part of the day. As I sit on my table, then Ting come close to me and give me a Purchase Order (PO). He wants me to call the supplier. Woa, Team Aid! A company I already used to deal with. No problem. Then I call them and asked about the delivery. So, Nick from Team Aid says that it can be deliver tomorrow. So I hang up the phone and pick up my helmet as I want to go out. Then I walking around and taking pictures as I want to pick pictures and information regarding this site as many as possible. Then I rest a while as it is raining out there. As I drink my Teh Ais, somebody call my phone. It’s Eddie, the PM. What does he want now? I already finish with the delivery works. I receive the phone calls.
Me: Hello Boss.
Eddie: Hello Adli. Where are you? (Wow, he saying my name)
Me: I’m at Basement 2.
Eddie: Basement 2… Can you bring along LP’s store books as I want you to do something.
Me: Okay, okay.

Then I go to the store and I see LP. So I asked him to follow me bringing his books. Then both of us go to the office. Later Eddie order me to do some checking on some items of sanitary wares. Of course I says yes. But later, there are too many conflicts. Communication barrier between me and LP as he is Nepalese. Misallocation of things. The books are not well sorted for listing. Then I blanked with sweats as the store is hot. This is the item for Rashpal. He came but he suddenly decides on something which brings more confusion. Then I decided to take a numbers and show it to the boss.

I know it is not the same number (coding from the supplier). As that is the thing that I can only find in the huge store, I have no other way. I show it however to the boss. He does not satisfy. He asks me to bring again the books and ask Ah Ting to join the meeting. Okay, I do it and I, Ting and LP are in meeting with the Boss.

Oh, now I know. Both of us, me and LP are new. Not only me. So we don’t know how things going on here before our arrival. So both of them Ting and Boss are discussing in Chinese. Later he wants to divert my concentration with ordering me to detect some coding of items to be match with the list of sanitary wares. I think that they are confronting about something that might involve the blaming of each other. Alhamdulillah, that thing I imagine is not happen. In the end the thing I know is I have to find something related with sanitary wares inside MTRA file. It is already difficult to find that file and when I find the file, the file is too thick. I have to read page by page. As I said earlier, it will be unlucky for me if the Site Clerk is not around. She goes to the HQ. No one can accompany me talking as I’m reading.

One by one left the office including Faiz. As I being kept inside the office with moody face. I found one sheet about sanitary wares but that’s not it. Almost 6, I finished the file. Nothing can be found. Ting says to me that there is another file but I want to do it tomorrow. So he says yes then I’m packing to return home. So my 2nd part of the day is finished. I want to return home as I want to start for my 3rd part of the day. Pulling my effort onto ‘Monbukagakusho’ scholarship. Gambatte Kudasai.

Allahumma Yassir, Wa La Tu’assir. Rabbi Tammim BilKhair.

Practical Day 43: Last Delivery

It is only a neutral day. Came to the site with a mission in my head. To order the kongsi kongs to finish the collecting of Jack Base and U-Head. Finally, it has an ending. Well, I order them to collect those things and arrange it on the palettes as usual. So I just looked at them doing their work properly. If something else happen I will ask them to adjust their work.

The lorry driver came. I order them to load these items into the lorry and as usual I have a chit chat with Abang Din about ‘Oh No!’ post before. I just pretend to be very interested in it. As the matter of a fact, I don’t like this situation. You can call me a hypocrite but actually I don’t know how to deal with this. Well, I hope I will be given strength in the days coming.

Yes, finally I see the ending of it. The lorry just went out from the site and I see I’m doing something. From 3900 number of Jack Base and now it is only 60 numbers left in this site. I couldn’t send it out as it is being used for the construction. I assume that I have finished my duty. Now I am much more relaxed.

I couldn’t remember clearly what I do for today as write about this day is two days later. The thing I know is today is free. I am doing everything with my heart open. No issues. I think that is why I couldn’t remember a thing. Never mind. Good days not always coming. Let me enjoy this feeling. I like our site clerk. I want to see her smile again. I think she is my closest friend here. She is my motivation to come here. Exactly on the day she arrived, I already felt that my burden has lost much. Yes of course. After her arrival, I don’t have to do Admin works anymore. She also talks to me many times. So I can express my stress to her. Even though my story makes her feels sleepy. Well, not much day left. I must write her name in Japanese as she already requested. I will give to her tomorrow. InsyaAllah.

Allahumma Yassir, Wa La Tuassir. Rabbi Tammim BilKhair.

Practical Day 42: Mim Alif Lam Sin

I did not take my breakfast. As I have to rush to the site. Today is Monday and that means there will be a toolbox meeting. I cannot be late for it. Well, I arrived to the site and just wait for the meeting. Later Eddie calls me and asks me to finish my job today. As he want to take his people back. I said okay and thank you. Then, my target is to finish up all the outstanding works. After the meeting finished then I asked them to immediately continue their works. As I am rushing towards time.

Well, even though I have a hard time to settle matters, the work is still going on. Well, as I write this I don’t know what to describe this day. As I thought I am lazy but I think another people think otherwise. As I tell LP that this week is my final week. Then he said my rapport is good. What? Maybe he just want to ‘kipas’ me but he again state the same. He said that he sees me working all the time. Well, that what you see, ea. He feel a bit sad as he knows whatever I have done will be given to him after I leave. He will continue my works here. Hurm, at least I know somebody who feels sad for me after I’m leaving. Ha3.

Well, enough for today I think. Not much except I become a bit closer with Encik Farid. He taught many things about industrial training report. So he gives me clues that I might put inside my report. He even offered to me of his photo collection. So I can choose whatever I like about this site. Thank you Mr. Farid. I will revise what we have discussed earlier.

Allahumma Yassir, Wa La Tu’assir. Rabbi Tammim BilKhair.

Practical Day 41: Cousin’s Wedding

I did not come to work for today. I know I will not come today long before I have started this training. That is because my cousin’s wedding is today. She is my same-age-cousin. There are no chances that I’m going to miss her big day, if Allah wills. Even though I’m not contributing much for her ceremony.

Weird thing is, there are still people calling me for work matters. Urgh. Well there are some mistakes about the delivery. As I pass over to Swandi, he might not hear my order really well. So I tell the lorry driver ‘Never mind, the thing already happens. I will figure out something later’. Now, I’m having both. The wedding ceremony and also my little bit of work.

Allahumma Yassir, Wa La Tu’assir. Rabbi Tammim BilKhair.

Practical Day 40: Oh No!

Well, I just continue ordering them to do their works. As today much more difficult as I thought I want to make two trip of delivery. I ordered them to collect Ladder Frame first as that my plan. With the second trip will sent out all the three palettes that left. However as to collect and arrange the ladder frame inside the lorry is time consuming, so I have to postpone another trip for tomorrow. Well, here is the mistake happen. At least from my point of view.

What am I hate and afraid of just happen. Well, I still hold on my principle. The lorry driver explained to me that the broken items that have been sent out are not counted. Since he is not returning the uncounted items back to the site I already thought something bad. He explained that is no bad about it. It is not counted if it is broken. And if the broken items are returned back to the site, they will use it again and that will pose a great danger, even death. As he explained me there are few stages of working people. He told me I already reach level 2. And now he teaches me level 3. Where to do work properly with making benefit aside as for my motivation. As I hear to him, I know he might be right. Plus we don’t like our superior. But deep inside, I’m still holding on my principle.

He also offers to me some incentive. As I don’t know to accept or not. If I did not accept it, it will sadden him. So I decided to accept it later. But I will not use the money. Instead of burning the notes I will give to the kongsi kongs who has work for me before. Eventually, I know it is a sin. I’m sorry. I will train with much more honest people to work inside this adventurous world. ‘There are no bad students, but there might be a bad teacher’. Hurm, yes. I agree.

(29/7/2010) Alhamdulillah. I didn't receive anything. Thanks to God.

Allahummaghfirli Zunubi, Waliwalidayya, Warhamhuma, Kama Rabbayana Soghira. Allahumma Yassir Wa La Tu’assir, Rabbi Tammim Bil Khair.
