Civil Engineers Contribution To Civilization

Inside the Pyramid.

The Parthenon complex.

In the early years of human civilization history our ancestors created enormous history varying from wars, peace, religion, technology advancement, expansion, culture, economic superpowers and so many more. The facts that they made their civilization were known until this day with enormous and massive structure such as Pyramids, Angkor Wat, Temple of Parthenon and so many more. These buildings hugely related with their religion and to show their appreciation to their Gods so they built this massive structures to show their devotion.

Technically, as their efforts to built their huge building it is indirectly gives some knowledge to application of science or as we called as Engineering. Even though the engineering term does not even exist yet at that time being. As they made their attempt to construct with trial and error, it is beneficial with their records. As time goes by, they collected so much valuable information regarding the technical details which enable them to build other massive building to put them in the map of history.

Later part throughout the human history, demand of high quality standard in human life has pushed the technology to be much beneficial to human being. For example, in ancient Egypt the pyramid was constructed for Pharaoh, their kings or gods which probably need so many labors and doesn’t seem to benefit the ordinary human. Only in Mohenjo Daro, there were drainage systems which serve for all the inhabitants in there. Also goes to Aqueduct from Roman Empire which provides fresh water sources from hill area to the centre of population area.

Well planned Mohenjo Daro city layout.

Started from there, engineers are about to give so much contribution to the development of human civilization. People from an empire or government demanded more comfortable life compared to the civilization before them. Therefore the focus on giving the higher living class to their people has given the higher level priorities in their administration.

Only after the Industrial Revolution in Europe had happen, the significance advancement of technology has been achieved. Thus resulting in proper designing and construction method has been produced. Therefore it is allowing and encouraging the engineers to construct greater, bigger, and higher with so much things that were thought impossible before. The knowledge of techniques and tools were transferred from one and another where the sharing of technology occurred. Human life level was increased then and the world becomes more likely as the Global Civilization.

It is a fact that the contribution of engineers towards human civilization in undeniable. It is only keep on going and going forwards into the future. At the mean time, engineering has been utilized at its maximum capacity to help and to put human in progress of their daily life. It is really assisting in every aspect of human life whether it is religious, economic, culture, knowledge and other aspects also cannot avoid with the help of engineering. In order to appreciate the engineering contribution, the known knowledge should not be wrongly used and do not use it for wrongfully purpose. It can be use wisely and safely for mankind benefits. In fact, that is the main purpose, for the good benefits.

THE STRUGGLE TO SAVE THE GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT IS IN ONE WAY MUCH MORE DIFFICULT THAN THE STRUGGLE TO VANQUISH HITLER, FOR THIS TIME THE WAR IS WITH OURSELVES. WE ARE THE ENEMY, JUST AS WE HAVE ONLY OURSELVES AS ALLIES -Al Gore-

Salams dik,

People are always irrational. I have a high respect for engineering students, even though my experienece when I be the test invigilator had destroyed it.

I have a high respect with medicine students, but when I heard their unethical behaviours, it destroys some of my respect too.

Some people, when they know I'm a lecturer, their immediate reaction is unbelievable: their tone and face expression change to, what shall I write here, more respect? I hate that.

Some people, when they know I'm an overseas grad, see me with a disgusting look: behold, I must have tasted all the forbidden sins.

Some people, when they know I'm a muslim, see me with a pitiful look: how Islam must oppressed me, strip me all of my womenly privileges.

You could never run from the sterotyping impression. From yourself, from others.

Be strong!

Wsalam miss,

well, being a part of engineering student on their behalf, i apologize for that destroyed your respect. nevertheless, even it is almost 2 years studying in degree, it seems its becomes the habit of the students. But i tried to not follow them totally.

i think you might wanted to comment on my entry entitled 'Streotype' (less one e in purpose) but i still reply your comment respect to the entry.

weel it is a shocking things for the stereotypes that you have been through especially for being overseas student and being lecturer. However, i still have a high respect towards you. Don't worry.

I will try to be strong. Well, it is already my final year. Why should i care about others think towards us. but it is a sad thing, the look from them... i know i'm not be able to be like them. they was the 'elite student' but that thinking also decrease their level, at least on my perspective.

however, thanks for your encouragement. Appreciate it a lot.
